Hey there, I want to know a bit more about editing a 3d model in Touch, imported from other software.
So, I have my .obj file, exported from 3ds max. I import it into Touch, and I want to use only the geometry of it, no lights, cameras, textures. So, I go into it, and grab the File SOP “mesh”. But then I got a bit confused, if i put into a Geometry COMP, I don’t see it in Render, even if i move the camera and search it (tried to make it Orthographic and so on, but no good results)… Other things I want to do with it are - if it’s possible in Touch - to choose specific points of the “mesh” and move them (i tried to do this with the Point SOP, but or I don’t understand how it’s working exactly, or my “mesh” is not compatible with it…even if I tried to flip normals, the results are not so good). And I want to use this “mesh” as a source geometry, for Particles for example, so my particles to flow on the “mesh” lines as a path, or to bounce on it and so on… But the results are not good with this, too. Looks like it’s not compatible at all. So,then I want to try to play with textures onto it, to apply different effects on different surfaces on the “mesh” and so on…
I guess may be the coordinates of the .obj file are not so smooth compatible in Touch, or some other reason… I tried to reexport it as .fbx file, but the “mesh” i get into Touch is the same, nothing else. If it’s possible, can i optimize it for work in Touch environment, or even rebuild it in Touch, if it’s necessary… But I’m not sure how to do this, because I don’t know much about building 3d objects in touch, it was easy for me to build it in 3ds max, and then I want to continue working with it in Touch. You see, the model is specific, I have some proportions and sizes in it, and it’s important to have them the same in the Touch environment. Can you help me with this, it will be a lot of appreciable ?
