Starting to look into importing 3D models from 3D studio for the first time. I think I am missing something basic in the logic of the fbx rendering pipeline within TD . I can see it in the GEO but nothing shows on the render TOP. If I put something simple such as a Sphere, there it is. This happens regardless of adding a material or not. Note: I am using the non-commercial version and some of the textures inside the fbx COMP show the resolution warning. But that shouldn’t matter? or?..

Ah ya, common issue when importing geometry, they are scaled huge and offset. So it’s rendering, your camera just can’t see it.
To find that out, I went to the down to the geometry of the building and middle clicked, it was of size 5000x1000x1400, in comparison to the sphere that was filling up most of the camera viewport that was of size 2. Looking at the Geometry COMP progressively from the top level and going deeper, some of them had huge offsets like /geo1/building/Building_045_001_high was offset on the X axis by like 5000 or something.
So i just set those geometry comp translations to 0,0,0, then on /project1/geo1 i just scaled it down to 0.001 and I could see it. You can also play with the camera if you don’t want to zoom down to such small values. Let me know if that helps.
You know, I had that suspicion but did not realise the values were that far off. Thanks! If anyone has a good practice reference on how to export from the most popular 3D packages (3DS, Blender, C4D, etc) I think that would be helpful. Been looking for that but didn’t really find anything.
