When I use a Copy SOP to place metaballs along a shape that has 10k+ points, I still end up with a jaggy shape. I would think that placing 10k+ metaballs would result in a smooth shape. Where is my gap in understanding?
Additional question: Changing the LOD on a Metaball SOP display options seems to do nothing (I was trying to follow the documentation). Any insight appreciated!
Perhaps Copy SOP only displaces the forces of the metaball, whereas what I’m looking to do requires Merge SOP?
EDIT: nah that doesn’t seem to be it…
Converting to polygon is sort of helpful, but when I crank the U value, I start to see the spherical shapes of the metaballs along the points they’re copied to, rather than seeing a smooth surface.:
Perhaps there’s a better way to get an organic looking shape than metaballs?
Hello Matija,
did you find a solution in the meantime to smoothen meatballs? I tried the convertSop, but it slows down my machine (I7, RTX3060) too much. Would be happy to find a way for a project I am working on.
