Intel HD problem

My laptop comes equipped with a horrible configuration. I’ve got an ATI 6700m card but the laptop also has an Intel HD 3000 card.

Touch Designer can’t seem to recognize the higher power card no matter what I do.

I had this issue with some Adobe products (After Effects, Premiere and Photoshop all had issues but I fixed those) and some games.

Its really sad my hardware qualifies for TD to run but TD won’t run

I know nvidia cards have Optimus for switching chips, I don’t know what the AMD version is, but see if in the AMD control panel you can manually assign programs to either use the intel or amd chip.

Or even better option is to google and see if you can disable the intel hd all together, although I know it’s a huge undertaking when using the nvidia + intel combos and usually doesn’t even work, so YMMV.

If that doesn’t work, give AMD support a call.

I have fought with this gfx card combo for so long I’m ready to just get a new laptop. TD isn’t the only software that hates my hardware.

Thanks for the ideas. I didn’t think about calling AMD… my guess is they would tell me to call HP though. But its worth a shot.

On this laptop if I don’t have the option to disable the Intel HD in the BIOS. I can change it from Dynamic to Static but that still doesn’t hide the Intel chip from software.

I’ve gone and bought a new laptop after some research and a few calls to a few companies.

What if you disable the device in the Device Manager? Not sure if that will leave without a display adapter when you are just running the OS though.
