Interactive Milk Simulation + Reveal

Hi peeps,

Supernoob here.

Is there a way to create a fairly realistic milk simulation in TD? And then have the mouse pointer create a ripple effect in the milk in order to reveal an image behind it? So wherever I move mouse pointer, the ripple effect would follow it, thus revealing parts of the image along the way.

I’m on a Mac so I don’t have NVIDIA or Windows so not sure what the best way is to go about it. Shaders seem like the next possible step but again - supernoob over here. Some instructions on how to approach this would be more than helpful.

Thank you so much!

There are lots of places you can investigate here. Some places to check include:

I don’t think Kurt’s approach is limited to NVIDIA hardware, I think it’s all shader based. You might need to turn down the level of detail / or resolution, but that’s a good place to start investigating.

Thank you so much, Matthew. Really good starting points.

This shader from Cornus Amonnis: Shader - Shadertoy BETA

You will have to tweak colors to make it look like milk. This is only 2D fluids though.

I don’t know much about ip rights with shadertoy, maybe you need to mention the author in your work.cornusDisplace.1.toe (8.8 KB)
