I would like to use the “Trail” CHOP or the Leapmotion image of Infrared hands captured from my LeapMotion camera as a visual element composted into the scene. How would I think about doing this?
You can use the OP Viewer TOP or OP Viewer COMP depending on how you are compositing your scene (TOPs vs COMPs).

I fully agree with @r-ssek, however if you didn’t want the UI of the graph that the Trail Chop provides, your next best bet is to use the trail as a method to Instance points or geometry.
if you go the OPViewer route also keep in mind the display options that are available for CHOP channel viewers (you access this menu by right clicking the CHOP when it is in viewer active mode)
