Hi, Hello…
I really need your advise, im using kinect 360, and its ******, only capture 2 people and its old hardware, so working slowly…
I managed to buy kinect V2, but its not manufacturing and in my country its impossible to get (and now the closed borders…)
So there is my question, What depth camera should i buy? Is touchdesigner compatible with others “kinects” if so, could you please recomend me some?
I wanted kinectv2 for my project because it cam map up to 6 people. But now im doomed and deadline is tickin…
thank you very much,
Deaniel
Hello,
Perhaps it would be useful that you give some informations:
– what do you want to analyse from kinect: skeleton, depth map, point cloud…
– what is exactly the situation : number of people, distance, field of view…
– what is you platform: macOs, Windows, graphic card…
In any case K2 is better than K1 (more players, more precise) but you can only use one. Azure K is another solution to consider.
Hmm, not much to recommend if you have a deadline coming up. In these situations, money talks. I don’t know what country you’re in, or the circumstances, but Xbox’s are pretty common, and it shouldn’t be terribly difficult to find somebody with a Kinect v2 that they wouldn’t mind parting with for above market value. You might even be able to buy one brand new from an electronics store if it’s not shut down. Otherwise, put out a craigslist ad (Or some equivalent) offering a premium for a Kinect V2.
Something to keep in mind for the Kinect v2, is that Microsoft LOVES proprietary items that they can make big margins on, and in order to Kinect a Kinect V2 to windows, it requires a USB adapter. You can get it between 20-40$ but the Kinect V2 is worthless to you without it.
If not, then mail is your best bet, but that’s gonna be killer for a deadline, especially in this scenario.
As @jacqueshoepffner said, you could get a Kinect azure, but they’re 400$ a pop and haven’t hit the after market yet.
