I’m mainly a Mac user, but I’m starting to use the Kinect.
Is there a way to set up a Windows PC to handle the Kinect data and then forward it to the Mac, which will be running the rest of the performance?
I noticed that the Video Stream Out TOP is only available with a licence, and I was wondering if there’s an alternative approach.
Hello,
It depend on what do you need from the kinect (I suppose it is the V2)
Kinect Top
– color image: you can send it via NDI (but you are limited to 720p with non-com)
– depth image, that is a 16 bit image, possible with NDI but that is a compressed image, so there is artefacts.
– infrared, 16 bits, possible like above
– player index, 8 bits, possible
– Depth Point Cloud, 32 bits, even with pack top, quite impossible
Kinect Chop
– you can transmit easely the Skeleton 76 channel via OSC
But if you need really to use Kinect, best buy a Windows machine…
