I use regional Indian languages a lot in my work. In older TD ver 088 I could type in my language as 'h’i for Hindi, ‘ml’ for Malayalam in the language property of text TOP for it to render the text correctly, cannot find this in the latest version 2021.10330 (windows) I am using for a new show instead there is a property ‘Break Language’ with some fixed languages. Using this am not able to render the text properly both in Hindi and Malayalam.
If you select bitmap or polygon rendering method, does that work?
Yes, selecting Bitmap and Polygon does render it correctly.
Ok thanks, this is a defect of the new scalable rendering technology we added, it looks far better than the polygon rendering, but it doesn’t have full language support yet.
The language selection in the previous builds stopped doing much a while ago actually, as I moved to shaping libraries that didn’t require the hint
I’ve also confirmed that support for Indic scripts should be coming in the next update of the scalable font rendering library we use, so I’ll upgrade to that when it’s available.
