Laser + Etherdream on Mac

Hi guys, I’m new to TD and I’m on Mac Big Sur, I’m trying for the first time to use Etherdream and TD to control a Laser. It doesn’t work, I think it’s the IP address of Etherdream not found. Is there a simple patch to check out what’s not working? Thanks a lot!

I used the built-in Add Laser Device in MadMapper’s MadLaser extension to test the laser and see that it was actually working first before moving to TouchDesigner, though there is also an Etherdream CHOP that is meant to get the IP address as well, but didn’t have any luck with it myself. There’s a free evaluation demo version of MadLaser and once it confirmed the laser was working I was able to figure out that the mac version of Touch Designer that I downloaded (I expect the latest) does not have a Laser Device CHOP and hence cannot send data to the laser device. Now, I’m working on a windows machine instead, and the Laser Device Chop is there.

Hi @dro55555,

just want to confirm: the Etherdream DAT is there to report a connected Etherdream device’s IP.
The Etherdream CHOP has been succeeded by the Laser Device CHOP which should also be available on OSX - you don’t see it on your machine? Which version of TouchDesigner are you working with?

cheers

Yes. Correct. The Laser CHOP and the Etherdream CHOP show up as expected. Laser Device CHOP is simply missing from the CHOP operator list [accessed by tab, is there another way?]. Using: 64-Bit Build 2022.35230 Compiled Wed Sep 27 13:28:44 2023 Non-commercial 099.

Hi @dro55555,

the Laser Device CHOP was only added with the 2023.11xxx release. You can download the latest from here: Download | Derivative
