Latency Issue after GPU update

Hello Derivative Support team,

I am a frequent user of TD, and I’ve recently encountered almost 1-second latency when interacting with the network editor. This issue is severely impacting my workflow.

In the past, I’ve had licensing problems where my machine didn’t recognize my commercial license. Your team used to send me a specific version of each updated which I’m currently using.

TD was working fine until I recently updated both my internal and Nvidia GPU drivers. After the update, the latency issue appeared. I’ve checked all settings to ensure TD runs on the high-performance GPU, but no improvements have occurred.
Additionally, I’ve noticed that when I open TD on my laptop’s primary monitor, it runs on the internal GPU (as verified through Windows Task Manager). However, when I drag the window to my external monitor, it switches to Nvidia. Despite pointing Nvidia as the principal GPU for TD, the problem persists.

A recurring issue I face is that TD often hangs when I press Tab to add an operator, further disrupting my workflow. Sometimes, when I drag the project to my secondary monitor, the latency temporarily resolves but returns when I close and open a project. This behavior also occurs on my primary display.

I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling TD, but the issue persists. It’s worth noting that I’m not encountering this problem with any other software, and it occurs even when TD projects are paused. Based on my experience, the issue persists even when the GPU load is at zero.
I truly appreciate any help or recommendations you can provide.
Thank you,

Hey,

The GPU usage changing as you move the window between monitors is normal for a mixed GPU system. The main work should still be getting done by the Nvidia GPU, but it needs to transfer through the integrated GPU to get displayed.

Have you tried downgrading your drivers back to what they were? You should also check for bloatware on your machine.
It doesn’t seem related to GPU power/usage at all, it’s something else happening.

An update regarding my situation:

As you mentioned, the issue was indeed related to the Nvidia update from October 2024. I rolled back to the September update, and everything is now functioning normally.

Thank you for addressing this; I wouldn’t have considered otherwise.

For reference, my GPU is an RTX 3080.

Could you let us know which driver version from Nvidia you ended up rolling back to?

It’s 561.09 for GeForce game ready driver, Sep 11, 2024.
