Layout TOP Scale Res behaviour

I use this thing all the time, it’s really very handy. One thing that bugs me is that the scale resolution parameter(which should be on by default IMO) just composites different aspect inputs onto a clear background with the same aspect as the first input, resulting in a lot of empty pixels and GPU mem. Should/could this not just place them beside/below each other and use the fit par to stretch in certain dimensions?

on a side note - i agree with Scaled Resolution parameter should be on by default
