Is there a limit to how many vertices a datto sop can handle? I’ve got a points tables with 5000 points, a primitive table with 5000 vertices, and a vertices table with 5000 entries with an index of 0 to 4999 but my datto SOP gives me an error saying the vertices index is out of range. When I look at the info of the datto sop it says there are only 1023 vertices. Is this a limitation or a bug?

no limitation on the number of vertices for a datto SOP, although it may get slower with a larger number of vertices.

sounds like your vertex table is incorrect. there are 2 indices for vertex tables, the primitive index and the vertex index. vertex number out of range means that one of your prims have something like 5 vertices, but there is a vindex greater or equal to 5 assigned to that prim.

I’ve attached a simple example to show what the DAT to SOP setup looks like.

thanks for the info but I’m pretty sure my vertex table was correct, the thing is I only a had one primitive. It was a line with 5000 points. Maybe that’s why it wouldn’t get all the vertices.

I tested my procedure (and compared my custom tables) by using three sopto dats for the three tables (vertex, point, primitive) to convert a 5000 point line sop to dat tables. I then used three datto sops to convert the three tables back to a sop. That sop would then only have 1023 vertices.

you were right, there was a limit of 1024 vertices in primitives! that limit has been removed and will be in the next build. sorry for the inconvenience and thanx for finding the bug!
