hello
I can’t seem to find this Line Thick POP | Derivative in the current release (and also any others I have installed since last summer) … will it be back or is it gone for good?
also kind of on the same note: the line MAT has a greyed out “line end taper strength” parameter that I cannot seem to get to work, although the same feature is available on the vector page where it seems to work,.. do you have any pointers regarding this?
thank you and kind regards
I also wish there was an equivalent to the Line Thick SOP. Line MAT is nice but doesn’t allow for texturing. With Line Thick SOP I could easily create a ribbon from a line and apply an image to it.
Hello, thank you for the feedback.
The Line Thick POP was removed after the early alpha versions of POPs as it was not quite ready.
The documentaion is a left-over and will be removed shortly.
That being said we do plan on bringing some version of it back at some point.
Otherwise regarding “line end taper strength” for Line MAT, I do see in the code it is always disabled.
We will look into it!
Best,
Vincent

I took a closer look at the disabled parameter on the Line MAT, it was some left over and never fully implemented and will be removed in the next release.
On a side note I was thinking you should be able to achieve tapering at the extremities of a line using a point attribute for the line width, and might not require a dedicated feature.
Best,
Vincent
thank you @vincentDev for clarifying! was just confused because vectors have the end taper strength and lines do not.
what I was trying to accomplish was a thick line (with the line width attribute) that has rounded corners at the end (instead of just a circular end) which can obviously not work I guess since it has no corner points like a geometry, I was just wondering if the taper feature might make this work
looking forward to a revised line thick pop
thank you and kind regards
Hello @zanshinkuge,
I’m not sure I understand, do you mind sharing a quick sketch/drawing showing what you mean?
Thank you!
