List Mode is inscrutable

I’ve found it hard to locate information about the List Mode of the network viewer; google, the official documentation, and the forums aren’t forthcoming (although the possibility remains that I’ve missed something).

It would be helpful to have a few things explained, like:

  • What do all of the single-letter column headers mean? What are the possible values?
  • What are some common use cases for the list mode?

Thanks

Hi @groundhogstate,

yes - agreed - info is forthcoming on this.
Here just a quick explainer of the columns in order:

  • indicator for active (green) op and selected (yellow) op
  • icon
  • name
  • B: bypass flag
  • C: cooking flag (COMPs only)
  • L: lock flag
  • I: immune flag (cloning related)
  • C: clone indicator (if this is a clone of something)
  • V: node viewer on/off
  • A: node viewer active flag
  • R: render flag (SOPs, Object COMPs only)
  • D: display flag
  • T: template flag (SOPs only)
  • F: compare flag (SOPs only)
  • S: pickable flag (Object COMPs only)
  • C: good question
  • L: good question
  • X: export flag (CHOPs, DATs, only)
  • C: comment
  • L: node language (python/tscript)

for usage: that’s a good question. Very rarely I find myself in there looking for an operator that might be docked and I just can’t locate it…

There should have been mouse over tooltips. This will be fixed in builds 2023.11604 or later.

Interesting, @selina, that would be great - oddly, I can sometimes get tooltips in the list mode, but it’s really hard to reproduce (less than 1/10 attempts) and only seemed to work on certain columns. Great to hear there’s a fix coming!

Yes, there was a bug where it may show up once and then stop updating. It has been there for a couple of years . Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
