Live Video Streaming from Mac to Windows

Hi all,

I was hoping that I might be able to get some help with having video transfer from a Mac to a Windows machine. Currently I’m working with an existing hardware setup that uses high end iMac computers to pull in video from a space. However, we just ordered and I will be using a more powerful Windows machine for the actual TouchDesigner workflow. What I hope to do is be able to stream the video from the iMac to the Windows machine.

For a little clarity, we’re working with a BlackMagic system for the capture, and the GPUs on the iMac computers are AMD not NVidia. Additionally, we can’t hardwire it manually as the interface requires a native thunderbolt port on the Windows machine. At this stage, the easiest solution seems to be some form of streaming to the Windows computer. I anticipate some delay with this, but nothing that will be incredibly detrimental to the final outcome we’re looking for.

Hope this helps clarify things, and any solutions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

hi,

your best bet would be to use NDI : send your content through NDI out TOP from the mac and receive it in windows using the NDI in TOP.

Maybe you can have some tests with Touch In/out TOPs as well.

For the record, have a look at the Newtek NDI website for more information about NDI protocol.

Awesome, will look into it
