Long Term Ownership

This is literally none of my business. But then it is.

I have no idea what Derivative’s long term plans are, but I’ve watched another company that makes interesting software go into private equity ownership and seen it going downhill rapidly.

Touchdesigner is fairly unusual in having a user base who have written their own software in your software. And often their projects, artworks and careers are somewhat dependent on it.

If at some point in the future, the Derivative founders were looking to move on, is there a model where the equity could be somehow sold to users? Or to a user-funded foundation?

From an art conservancy point of view, it would make TD a really stable platform, and make it more appealing to organisations who have a very long term view, like museums, etc.

Best regards

Marcus
