MAC/WIN 2023.11760 Annotate comment

Hi!

Annotate comment:
Bugs

  1. Does not allow to place inside OPs created with doublckick/tab
  2. Does not allow to RMB on connectors inside comment
    https://youtu.be/DDgjw9R0rEA

To consider:
3. Maybe Annotate comment should have same transparency as other types of Annotate COMPs or adjustable transparency?
4. Maybe all Annotate types should remeber last settings adjusted by user and apply it to new annotates?

Anyway,
Annotates are great!

Alex

Hi Letsius, thanks for feedback!

1 & 2 we decided were not the realm of “comments”. Just use the other modes for that behavior.
3) you can adjust transparency of a comment with RMB>parameters then change Back Color Alpha on Settings page
4) that feature may come some day! Agreed it would make some things easier.

Hi Ivan,
Thank you.

1,2,4 ok clear.
3. There is no Back Color Alpha parameter. It seems not all parameter pages are visible when I RMB->parameters:

Doh! Yeah, the team wanted a super-simplified list of parameters for comments. You can get to full parameters with ctrl-RMB>Parameters…

Side note… I always just use the full annotate mode. I’d be interested to know why you prefer comment mode.

It’s mostly subjective:

  1. Hotkey is obvious

  2. It allows to “format” text by keyboard only - e.g. if you type long comment with header - you simply type header with caps and continue typing text normally at new line.

  3. It does not enclose OPs by default. Enclosing seem bit glitchy, here is an example happens from time to time:

  4. Visually it is more simple and does not intoduce extra UI element (header) with additionol color, which is less load for the eyes. It become impactfull when comment big area - so text needs to be really big.
But it is very personal and I actually start to feel comfortable with shif+b.

By the way would be great:
On annotation hotkey - in case the last mouse action was selecting multiple OPs with RMB (and OP’s where selected) → place and stretch annotation around selected OPs automatically.
