Midi goes haywire

I’m not sure this is a TD issue. It consistently involves my Yamaha midi device, TD and Reaper. TD and Reaper share the midi input from the Yamaha midi device. You can see below where as soon as I try to use tap tempo via the drum trigger ( Yamaha EAD Midi into Reaper), the whole thing goes crazy, drops frames, distorts audio, etc. This has happened before but the result is very odd. Reaper loses any connection to the Yamaha device. TD continues to show Note on events even when no triggers are hit. If I reset midi in Reaper, it restores the connection to the Yamaha EAD. It is very bizarre

I belive using 2 hosts on the same midi in creates a conflict. You could create a virtual midi channel using loopmidi, read the midi data with one app and send it to the iother one with the virtual channel.

Do you stream over TD or is that obs monitor capture?

It’s happened once more since my orig post and I had tried using virtual midi. I feel like either TD or Reaper is somehow getting the midi channels mixed up. I probably need to double check all the routing.

The latest occurrence was not even during an attempt to trigger anything, it was out of the blue and seemingly random.

I’m tempted to use midi ox as a monitor and router for MIDI
