I have connected a constant to a MIDI out chop so i can send midi notes to Ableton. When I move the slider though the midi chop output doesn’t move
The most likely reason for this is that you do not have a MIDI device configured for your project. The fact that there isn’t even an exclamation mark on it means that you probably have no devices defined. Check the devices dialog (alt+d).
I don’t personally have experience using TD with Ableton, but if your want to route data on the same machine between TD and Ableton, I assume you’d need a loopback device (the IAC bus on a Mac, or MIDI Yoke or something similar on PC).
I know there’s a whole toolchain for using the TD with Ableton in the palette but I don’t have personal experience with it.
I want to send midi notes, not controll. I don’t thing td ableton can send notes, but if you know way, it would be appreciated. Also if you can tell me how to setup a midi device it would be helpful. I use loopmidi. Thanks
Hello,
If you have activated a midi channel in loopmidi you must retrieve it in TD Midi Device Mapper Dialog:
– Create New Mapping
– Choose loopMIDI Port for In Device and Out Device
– Constant chop with “ch1n64” as channel name
– Midiout chop
On Ableton side
– input loopMIDI port on in Preference/Link MIDI
– Midi From loopMIDI Port in midi track
– Some instrument to test it
It works for me
thank you so much. I’ve seen user friendly sounds on yt use a gamepad M4L that ouputs midi notes for the buttons. It isn’t free and free m4l gamepad devices don’t output midi notes for the buttons. So im doing it in TD
