My moviefileout has worked in my previous projects i usually pause and rewind to 000 / frame 1 and turn off real time and check once not loop, then hit record and play and in the past it of course records at a much slower fps but ended up being the correct 60 fps output now it drops even heavier to 15 fps and the output is the correct time length but not displaying the result visually just black screen in windows media player and opened with other apps and of course i did try using the export movie movie option which gives me the same problems The network is glsl for instancing / translating box sop geometry which im not sure is relevant or not
Hi @n9261
If you try the same thing in a fresh TouchDesigner with just a rotating shape but using same resolution and settings as in your project, do you see the same behavior?
cheers
Markus
i tried with new project just a box sop geo rotating w abstime.frame and its weird because i get no reduction in my timeline’s speed and remain at 60 fps which is probably what should be happening to my other projects i guess, ive tested copying and pasting only the glsl code into a new td project and all new nodes new geometry instancing and im getting the same problem on all ends so im not sure why the project from scratch runs at 60 fps like usual but drops again to 17 fps and same problem with its output thanks for the help
@snaut i meant same problem before on output where i see black screen and it wont allow me to play the video but shows a correct preview image on its desktop shortcut / file, im sending some over to my google drive to see if it displays correctly but havent had much luck so far
update on the single box test movieout i forgot to set the resolution to 4096x4096 which is what i use and even though its a single box sop rotating rendered the moviefileout record still comes down to 37 fps
Hi @n9261,
the framerate it is recording in is not so much of a concern as it largely depends on codec chosen, your hardware setup etc. For example is your drive speed quick enough to be able to write 4k at 60fps?
More interesting is that you only see black in external video players. What codec are you using and can you play the movie in TouchDesigner?
cheers
Markus
Hi @n9261,
sorry - had missed your email earlier.
I would just go for a different codec. The file created using Motion JPEG is just too large for Windows Media Player or VLC to properly play. Try the same with h264 and you should not see such issues.
cheers
Markus
No worries at all thanks so much for the help, i forgot to mention i remember trying that and gettting the same issues but it worked this time mightve been a node in the project because im glad you mentioned to try it again, so i did in the new recreation of the project w new nodes and it seems to work so far with the h264 nvdia gpu and plays correctly so it looks good so far. Thanks again for the help i rlly appreciate it happy thanksgiving
