Multichannel Audio with VST3 in Touchdesigner for 3D Audio?

I would like to set up a Touchdesigner Template for 3D Sound with the new Audio VST Chops by using the open source IEM-Plugin Suite (VST3: Multiencoder, BinauralDecoder, …).

However I am wondering how to deal with multiple audio channel input and output for the VST3s? It seems like there are only two audio channels coming out of the VST Chop…

Could anyone create an example .toe with multichannel in and output of the Audio VST Chop?

FYI you can see the number of input and output channels the VST plugin supports via the Info DAT of the Audio VST CHOP. We automatically add all output channels to the CHOP that the plugin supports. Input Channel Count should be broken down further by input #, but that’s a todo.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Is it correct, to use a merge chop to create the multi channel input for the vst chop?
Is the Window showing up on “Chop → right click → Information” the info Dat you are talking about or can I make it visible like an DAT operator?

It shows, that there are only 2 channels. But the IEM multiencoder should be capable of 64 channels afaik.

No the Info DAT is created from the DAT page in the OP Create Dialog and references an operator (in this case your Audio VST CHOP) to grab miscellaneous/text information.

I see that the IEM multiencoder plugin has a plugin parameter that controls the number of inputs, but if selecting >2 it gives a warning that not enough channels are available within the plugin window GUI. However, even if I manually force there to be 64 input/output channels that warning does not go away - that seems to be the crux of the issue here. Not sure how to get that to go away but I will look into it more.

Thank you! We are really excited to experiment with VSTs in Touchdesigner in a 3D Audio Set Up!

Hi, also interested in this topic.
Tested multichannel audio for Ambisonics with the DearVR Plugins: They handle two channel input (encoding) and stream max of 16 ch. output (HOA Decoding).
Those are working fine, I assume because the channel setup is not flexible.
With the IEM plugins (which check how many channels are available automatically when working in a DAW like Reaper or ProTools) it seems, there is no way to make them work with more then 2 channels in TD. Any Ideas?
