new (266) drivers out for Quadro

Are we free of the bonds of windows XP? This mosaic technology looks promising, perhaps the quadroplex will just work right out of the box without running a process per GPU…
You are still out in the cold with geforce though, I believe.
I don’t have a multi quadro windows 7 box to test it on - Malcolm, have you had a chance yet?

but wait…
what is this???

3 screens on a SLI rig. Looks weird, I am curious though.

Seems like there are 2 different modes. Nvidia mosaic and SLI Mosaic, where the latter seems to support more than 2 cards/4 screens.

I also wonder about sli surround. Not sure if it works the same as Mosaic, i.e. if it presents itself to the application as a single card

i’d be great if derivative could run some test

Ya I’ve already started testing and will continue this week.

Preliminary test using two Quadro 5800s with SLI Mosaic (4 monitor outputs) showed some very good results. Using one process to span all 4 monitors with a single window.

seems to work the same as the mosaic mode, i.e. to touch it should appear as one big display

can you give this one a try as well malcolm?

I actually don’t have any sets of identical Geforces to try that (we usually try to always get different kinds to keep a good mixture on site)

I have 2 470’s here, but they are different makes, I don’t know if that matters. I am pretty certain the clock rates are not exactly matched. I’ll let you know if it works or if it starts smoking.

While all quadros in SLI mosaic are supposed to support up to 8 monitors, only the quadroplex guarantees all 8 to be tear free, for quadro 5000 5800 6000 they only guarantee 4 monitors to be tear free, and every card below those does not support tear free multi-displays at all, which would render the whole thing useless. Unfortunately all this is not really documented, so I’d be great if you could test a 4 display config with a lower end card (two quadro 4000) in sli-mosaic.

Thats really interesting, where did you read that?

nvidia.com/content/Quadrople … asicLR.pdf
under “Max # of displays” they limit them to 8 seamless or up to 4 seamless

and under nvidia.com/content/QuadroHMC … Mosaic.asp if you choose yes at “do you need a synchronised seamless image” you only get a quadroplex offered for above 4 displays and the 5000/5800/6000 for 4 displays

and here nvidia.com/object/nvidia-mos … ology.html they mention that tear free operation is only supported quadro 5000 and higher

And today I spoke to one of the vioso guys and he basically said that in his experience SLI mosaic only really works perfectly on quadroplex system
