Hi everyone!
I am writing here as I am struggling deciding which laptop would be better spending not more than 2500-2600 Euro…
Should I put first GPU than CPU?
I saw that there’s some good options with Ryzen 9 and Nvidia RTX 3800, but I don’t know if it’s better an Intel I-7 to work with TD…
I am upgrading from a 1060 Max Q design as I pushed my laptop a little bit over, and keeps going blue screen lol
Thanks in advance to anyone that would answer and help me!
Best,
Cristina
From my experience, you’re always going to have a lot of people telling you what to get and you’ll have just as many choices as you had before! My advice is this:
- If you plan on using the NVIDIA OPs in TouchDesigner, get a machine with an NVIDIA card
- Get something that you can actually lug around with you! Having a powerhouse means very little if you aren’t willing to carry it around with you
- The GPU is going to be important for graphics sake, but a good CPU will be vital as well. If you’re looking at Intel processors, I would say that I-7 or higher would be good
- Find something that is going to last you awhile, don’t rush in and maybe ask around at your local electronics store for some options.
I’m certainly no expert on picking a computer, this is just my two cents!
Hope it helps
thank you for answering!
I’ll surely get an Nvidia, and as researching I understood that processor count but the graphic card is more important, that’s why I was looking for an Nvidia RTX 3080 and then seeing what’s processors are available with this without going crazy with prices!
Unfortunately I can’t wait that much as I need it for work/studies and I am really afraid my actual laptop will die in a while… sad story!
Yeah I won’t go lower than I-7, just wondering if Ryzen as processor could be a good choice ahah
Thank you so much again!
