Numerous small UI improvements for speeding up workflow

,

Hi,

over the past few months, I’ve noticed several minor quirks in the user interface that prevent me from getting into a creative flow, because I spend more time struggling with the interface than actually getting work done. I know that some of these have already been suggested, and there may even be solutions for some of the points listed here (if you have an idea, please leave a comment).Below, I’ve put together my list of improvements that could enhance the user experience for new users significantly:

  • Ability to drag and drop nodes onto wires to insert them at that point of the network
  • Dedicated Reroute Points for Node Wires (no workarounds using nulls)
  • Cutting tool for cutting multiple wires (Ctrl + right-click drag)
  • Lazy connect (Alt + right-click drag to connect two nodes)
  • Shortcut for disconnecting all wires and moving node (Alt + drag)
  • Shortcut for swapping inputs on multi-input operators (Alt-s)
  • Shortcut for duplicating nodes (Shift-d)
  • Shortcut for copying node without wires attached
  • Addition of Keybinding Manager, as shortcuts such as Alt + [ cant be typed on keyboard layouts where you have to press shift to access [ (QWERTZ)
  • More predictable Operator Search/Improved Searching Algorithm (e.g. only having to type “Movie in” for “Movie File In TOP”/ Selecting the first match in the visual list (so the first alphabetical match) when the search string doesnt match a full operator name (“Movie File” + Enter should create a Movie File IN instead of Movie File OUT because it appears earlier on the list of operators))

I really want to love Touchdesigner but it is giving me a hard time in doing so :-/
I would be extremely happy if even a single of my suggestions would be implemented in the future (or someone knows a way on how to achieve some of this in the current version)
Cheers!
