just wondering if anyone has tested Touchdesigner with these new graphic cards and have already seen how they works.
Specifically, i’m wondering if there are any incompatibilities about, for instance, that Physx support has been dropped from the 50 series.
The NVIDIA operators that are available in TD will still working with this new graphic cards?
Hey, I just built may PC with a 50s card and sadly the Nvidia background doesn’t seem to work, hope there will be a fix soon for that, haven’t tested the other Nvidia operators yet.
Hi @Grandmasterodb, thanks for this reply.
If you have time and the chance, could you also test Flex and Flow?
Maybe with the next NVIDIA driver updates, the developers will check it and fix the issue.
After all, these are brand-new graphics cards just released on the market.
This was discussed in another thread, but just to add a quick note here for reference. The Nvidia Maxine based nodes (Background, Denoise, Upscale, Body Track, etc) use AI models that are specific to each generation of hardware.
We currently ship with the models for 20xx, 30xx and 40xx series cards, but the models for the 50xx are not publicly available yet for the the SDK.
We are talking to Nvidia about this, but don’t have an answer yet.
Hi @robmc thanks for the insight. As you can se from my original post i’m wondering if the other NVIDIA operators still remain compatible with these new GPUs like Flex TOP and Flow TOP.
Flex and Flow should be fine on the 50xx series, they don’t rely on hardware specific features like the Maxine nodes
@Alaghast UPDATE: We got a 50xx card to test with and it looks like there are some problems with the Flex TOP. One of our devs talked to Nvidia about the issue and unfortunately it doesn’t sound like they are planning a fix for it. There might be something we can do in the long run, but we don’t have a timeline for that.
The Flow TOP does seem to be working based on the current OP snippets.
Sorry for the confusion. Let us know if you have any questions.
Hi @robmc,
“Unfortunately”, I ended up with a 50xx card after all. So, no more support or workarounds for Flex? Not sure if I saw this correctly, but wasn’t there a plan from NVIDIA to open-source the FleX physics library? Also, regarding the other NVIDIA OPs, the Background Remove should now be compatible with NVIDIA Blackwell architectures, right?, in AR SDK
I haven’t really worked on Flex, so I’m not up on top of all of the changes there. I gather flex was rolled into physx and that may have been opensourced now, but I think Nvidia has also ended support for it so I don’t know if there is much future there.
As far as background removal on the 50xx cards: we’re working with Nvidia towards a solution there in the new 2025 experimental release that we just launched on friday. I know the SDK is now available, but my understanding is that they are still requiring an enterprise license per GPU to actually run the new models. We will post when we have more information.
