It’ll work, but you’ll hit the wall pretty quick once you have a semi involved project. Definitely usable though to learn.
thnx for your input! My initial aim was to go for the retina mbp. so i guess it is better to stick to the plan. never a 1st gen for me though…i ll wait for the next retina mbp which hopefully will have the fusion drive…
The retina’s are nice for sure. I’d still opt for controlling your drives manually if you can, that way you’re always certain what’s running off of where, and things aren’t moving back and forth periodically.
They won’t put a fusion drive in the Macbook Pro Retina laptops, the whole design is based around flash drives. There is also no room for a standard hdd in there (to make the slow part of a fusion drive). In fact, there isn’t even enough room for a standard SSD drive which is why their storage is referred to as “flash”, since they had to squeeze flash chips on a custom silicon board to make it all fit.
I think they just gave the Retina’s their first speed bump, but other than a faster CPU, nothing changed to really make them a “2nd revision” yet.
hello I recently downloaded Touchdesign fte, I have a MacBookPro, where I made the bootcamp partition with the same parameters of the discussion, but the gpu overheats reaching more than 90 degrees (I have dowloaded a program that sees the state of the CPU) is compatibility problem whit bootcamp 'or my specific mac? help me … I’m not using the software for fear to melt the processor …
Those series of Macbook’s have been known to get quite hot when under pressure, but nothing should melt on the inside. Is it your GPU or CPU at 90 degrees?
for me it used to be normal to need a towel between the laptop and your lap
In all truth, I couldn’t even put mine on my lap during regular use!
The huge Asus laptops are great for that, the big vents on the back keep it nice and cool, usable on your lap.
