nvidia gpu 765m on laptop over heat problem

hi all,

i’ve buyed a one laptop (similar to clevo) with an i7 4700k 16 gb ram and geforce 765m

after a lot of crash, i’ve decided to use gpu-z to test my gpu temperature and i’ve seen that when td start i’ve normally with start patch +93c when i try to do something of more complex i’ve a videoboard crash with a white screen and after a refresh in windows where the application says that an error is occurred… bla bla bla… (sometimes i’ve seen temp at +100!!!)

i don’t want to imagine that’s impossible to obtain a better temperature because this problem appear only with td.

so … there’s some suggestion for me? it’s frustrating because everytime i lose my projects…

please help

Are you sure it’s temperature overheating? I think I remember seeing 90+ degree temperatures on my laptops, but none of mine have ever just blacked out.

What model exactly? Because mine’s also based on clevo laptops and I have a higher spec’d machine. That might mean it could just be a bad graphics card or RAM that needs to be swapped out via warranty.

I’d recommend doing a RAM check as well, we had a server that kept randomly crashing because of some bad RAM.

hi elburz thanks for your reply,

personally i’m quite sure that’s a fault of the gpu card, because if i’ve values that are include in the range of +93 and +100 the video drivers go to crash and i loose the viewport, so as a consequence i must close td. in other case if the temperature go over +100 the laptop reboot automatically.

i’ve buyed this laptop in september from www.one.de, the laptop is builded by this company… i’m sure that the laptop is not bad because i’ve read a lot of good overview on this company…

is there a way to downgrade the performance of gpu in relation of overheating ?

in this moment i could accept this solution… (i need to work with particles and glsl damn!!! )

If you go to the power options for Windows, you can turn down the GPU power there. It does seem like this laptop is faulty though since it should work with the GPU running at full power.
You could also consider getting a laptop cooling pad to put under it.

Ya, so we have almost the same machine. It sounds like something in the machine is faulty if thats the case. I cranked out quite a bit on that laptop and it’s never done that. I disabled graphics switching as well, so the gtx chip in mine is always running and no issue.

thanks malcolm i’ve just buyed a cooling pad for my laptop… (nothing of really amazing… only a fan…) but the problem is the same.

elburz if i’d like to switch off intel video card how can i do it?

do u have some links?

thanks all as usual.

More than likely you might not be able to fully switch off the intel. If you’re machine is built similarly, everything has to pass through the intel chip. I would really recommend calling in warranty and reporting the issue to one.de.
