OBSBOT Tail 2 Camera via UVC - Only still image in TD

Hello,

I recently bought this camera,

which can be used as webcam via UVC (tested successfully with OBS and Zoom) and it is recognised in TD (build 2025.32280) but TD only receives a still image.

I’d like to bump this issue; I came here to report the same problem.

I can confirm the issue occurs with other OBSBOT hardware like Tail Air as well. The webcam mode works in OBS, google Meet and other VJ software like resolume, but only returns a frozen still image in TouchDesigner, which defeats the purpose I bought this expensive hardware for in the installation I need it. My current workaround is capturing in OBS and sending NDI to TouchDesigner, which introduces a bunch of unnecessary complexity and latency; would love a fix

at least the tail2 can be bought / updated to send NDI directly…

so can the tail air, but that requires network switches and an extortionary hidden $100 surcharge, PoE etc, when all i really need is a USB C cable and virtual web cam to do what i want

Hi @The_NODE_Institute and @drmbt

to analyze a bit more, this is happening no matter if Direct Show or Media Foundation is being used as Driver? Also did you by any chance were able to test different resolution settings to see if that overcomes the issue?
