Off-topic... Loiloscope: interesting video editor

This has a zoomy interface like Touch so I figured others might like it.

I have not tried it yet but will dl the demo to try.

It also uses cuda to do lots of crunching on the GPU.

It appears to be really easy to use for editing and compositing video clips - ready for importing into Touch of course.

Although you ‘could’ build the same interface in Touch, it might be worth 60 clams just to click it and go!

there are a few features that look quite neat. I would be interested to know what you think of it once you tried it.

I’ve played with it a little but still getting used to the unconventional interface.

lots of great ideas though. I especially like the way you sort clip icons by just flicking them around on the screen, then you drag different colored ‘magnet’ bars around to scoop them up into nice orderly bunches.

I couldn’t use the CUDA based mpeg4 conversion because I only have 175.75 from Dell on my quadro FX 1600M I thought that would be new enough but apparently not :frowning:

I’m waiting until the new nvidia drivers handle Touch properly before trying them out.

anyone else using a FX 1600M?

cheers,
Rod.

Just an update…

using cuda to render video in super loiloscope is prety $%^&n fast.

It defaults to mpeg4 but prob 5 times faster than in premier on the CPU.

the thing costs about 70 bucks but provides a nice quick editing experience when you are in a hurry. I like the web2.0 friendly ‘share’ menu instead of a file menu so the default assumption is that you’ll upload straight to youtube.

Touch now supports the same CUDA H264 encoding.
