I have about 16 parallel builds I use for opening older courses and files. Usually when I choose “Open With” in Win 10 on PC I can select the build it was made in, but with 2025:31550 a “share” popup appears in windows which I can’t capture with snipping tool to show you. I have to open that build separately and then open the file from within TD. Not a huge problem, but annoying. Nice if you can fix that or tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.
Hello @gordharris
Do you use Dropbox, OneDrive, or another cloud file syncing service? Perhaps this is the issue youare seeing.
The ‘Open With…’ will not show up in Windows for files which are connected to such a service but not yet downloaded locally. ie. you need to make them “Available Offline” for the Open With option to appear in the right-click menu.
For example, in the list above, only MovieSelect.39.toe would show the Open With… option. Is this what you are experiencing?
@ben sorry for delay Ben. Busy at an online ADC25 conference the last three days.
I do use several of those, but this file is local on my D: hard drive. If I double click to launch, I get the file load versions conflict “Loading a file saved in version 099 build 2025.31550 into version 099 build 20370. Loading a version into a build that is older….etc
When I cancel that and right click, then “open file with” and choose TouchDesigner 2025.31550 I get this pop up window from Win 10 titled “Share” and showing below “Sketch165 Travelers_CED.22.toe” which is the file made in 2025.31550.
If I open 2025.31550 on its own from desktop, then File/Open Recent it opens fine.
So it is not a huge deal - but I wondered why my other ones do work properly with Rt click, open file with …. TDversion?
Hope this helps, and congrats on release - loving POPS so far!
Hey, highly recommend using GitHub - EnviralDesign/TD-Launcher: A bootstrapper exe for automagically loading your toe file in the correct version of TouchDesigner. if you juggle multiple builds!!!
Thank you Dan - I will try that out! Best regards….
@function.store Hey Dan I tried to install that but found it quite confusing on GitHub and no luck so far. What file do you actually click on to install it properly? Maybe my firewall screwed it up? thanks in advance for any help - not really a developer type or advanced Win10 programmer.
Hey @gordharris Release v1.1.0 - OSX support added · EnviralDesign/TD-Launcher · GitHub — you should be able to grab the .exe from here and install it (windows will potentially complain about non-trusted developer but you can ignore). Then just right click on any .toe and go to Properties and Opens with: → Change and select the installed td_launcher.exe from your program files as default.
Hope this helps!
@function.store Thanks very much Dan. Setting up for recording session right now but will test tomorrow. Much obliged!
Thanks Dan - that worked fine! Nice work by you and Keith providing that!
