Curious to know if anyone has worked with markerless mocap in TD. I’m currently exploring whats available at the moment.
Considering Unity, but based on some previous tests know that TD is much more responsive in terms of handling sensor input.
I assume the input device will be either a Kinect or Intel Real Sense device.
This response is a bit late, but I have been messing with this last few days using a Kinect and it seems to be easy enough. 1. Plug your kinect into Touch Designer, 2. Throw down a kinect CHOP feeding into a trail CHOP 3. Use the trail chop’s data as your mocap data. It won’t be perfect, spinning around messes things up sometimes but its so easy…
I’ve been using this method to create a recording of myself to use while I design my scene without having to constantly go up and physically test it out. What I do is right-click on the trail chop and “save CHOP channels”, then load them back in as a file in CHOP to serve as my animation channels.
I haven’t tried using the kinect data outside Touch though…
