Options for remote control of TD that do not use Wi-Fi

Hello,
I have a project where I need to allow users to press buttons to control stuff in TD, or type text that will go into TD using an iPad

I do not have wifi access where the installation will be, which i believe rules out using WSS webservers, or Touch OSC which I have used in the past.

Does anyone have any ideas about ways to do this without wifi? Is there something that uses Bluetooth, or some wired connection option? Or some other method?

I have thought about using my wireless keyboard but would still like the interface to be on the iPad as I wont be able to use a separate monitor for UI

I have used an iPad successfully in the past to control touch designer via TouchOSC. Connected directly via its USB charge cable. You are wise to avoid wifi.
