Particle SOP 'id' attribute glitchy

I can’t seem to make the particle id work with a SOP To CHOP.

Am I missing a step or is it a bug?

  1. turn on particle id in the Particle SOP
  2. turn on Custom in SOP To Chop
  3. type id into the attribue scope field

Happens in TD 2021.16270 and 2021.16410
Win 10

EDIT:

Ok something fishy definitely going on. If I re-open this file, the originally placed particle sop gives the particle id, but a newly created one gives the same error as before restarting TD:

Hey @matijaerceg

the attribute is only added at the initialization of the particle system - so you have to hit the reset parameter after turning this on. I’ll make a note in the documentation about this…

cheers

Ah okay, thanks. It was very disorienting.

Why not just automatically reset the Particle SOP when that setting (and any others that require a reset) is toggled?

Changing to RFE instead of bug.
