Hi,
I just discovered this awesome “passes” param on the “common” page of TOPs, that repeats the TOP N number of times. Sadly that doesn’t exist on Base OPs, even if I have an Out TOP inside the Base.
How can I easily accomplish the same thing with my Base?
If there is no solution, this would be a great feature to have.
we currently do not have a way to iterate over a network multiple times per frame. For TOPs, the operation duplicated N number of times but this is also a per operator behaviour meaning the individual outputs of the pass are not passed on to the next operator - meaning running a network twice would potentially have very different results from running an operator twice.
In specific cases there might be other ways - do you have an example of what you are looking for? Particularly I’m thinking of the Copy SOP and its stamping feature.
What I want to do is make a simple kaleidoscope effect using a Mirror TOP and a Tile TOP. I find it works best with with those 2 in combination multiple times. I also want to provide a user interface to my component for “number of iterations” with a simple slider that will determine how many passes to do of that TOP combination.
Currently I’m doing it with a Switch TOP and a fixed number of copies chained together in serial. I suppose I could also script something with a Replicator OP too. But since I discovered this “passes” param I was hoping I could be lazy and find something just as simple/elegant.
