Perform / Window COMP drawing larger than expected

Hi -

Working on a new setup here and have been banging my head against this for a bit …

It appears that my Perform window is drawing larger to the screen than it should.

I’ve tried setting it to 1920x1080 and comparing it to a known 1080 graphic (in another application) and it’s much larger (like maybe double the area).

I’ve tried this with a Window COMP, a null, etc., popped up windowed. Same issue. I’ve tried it with a scale at 2x UHD (the full res of my two monitors here) and it’s proportionally drawing larger than that res as well.

This is with the perform window size set to ‘automatic from COMP/TOP’, justify either to center or left/top (doesn’t matter), and keep window aspect to ‘always’ or ‘never’ (doesn’t matter) … borders off, offsets 0, location ‘all monitors’ or single/main.

Feel like I’m missing something obvious.

Thanks in advance,

N

Hi N,

Which version of windows are you running?

In the past I’ve had an issue with windows 8’s custom sizing options… specifically if I moved a window from one screen to anther, or if it crossed a window boundary it would auto-re-size. It made me crazy for a good 3 hours one night at a technical rehearsal.

Check:
Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display

Look for check box - “Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays”

This bad behavior should be fixed in the 50000 series builds. The scaling setting shouldn’t affect us anymore.

Malcolm - I love that you called this bad behavior, made me laugh. Nice to near that it’s been addressed.

Thanks Malcolm and Matt -

Matt - you were right - that was the issue and fixed it for me on Windows 8.1.

Similarly made me crazy … glad to get an answer.

Thanks, gentlemen!
