I’m sure you guys have a lot on your plate but is there any plans on incorporating PhysX or Bullet dynamics?
I’ve just been doing some work with Bullet dynamics (Dynamica) and PhysX in Maya and they are both very fast. It would be great to be able to have some of those same abilities in Touch.
I’m thinking that this might be a reason why the particles and springs have not been polished up at all? (particles fall through collision objects if the collision object transforms or translates.in any way)
I think one of the issues with bullet dynamics (and other physics simulations like water and particles) is currently, they would require way to much computational power to render live.
It depends on the number of objects and collisions that are part of the simulation. In Maya I’ve been able to animate quite a number of objects with collisions in realtime (30fps) with both Bullet and Physx dynamics. At least 100 with collisions (not necessarily all colliding at once though). Where the simulation played just as well before baking as after baking. I’m sure Touch could perform at least as well as Maya I imagine probably better.
