Please disable keys before upgrading to Windows 8.1

We have just learned that upgrading to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 will change your system code, which will stop your TouchDesigner keys from working. If you are going to upgrade to Windows 8.1, please disable your keys first, then create new ones after the upgrade.

Instructions for disabling are here, see Licensing.

wish I’d read this a little earlier. Guess I’ll have two licenses in the ether already. More urgently I’m getting the missing MF.dll message after Windows 8.1 update and can’t start Touch Designer.

i had trouble upgrading 10780 to 11400 on win7

when i launch 11400 i had no key to disable, i had to install back 10780 disable my key and then could create a new one on 11400

Hey everyone, sorry about the trouble upgrading to Windows 8.1

We pulled down experimental build 11400, and have now posted build 11440 which will keep your keys working after upgrading to Windows 8.1, and should handle Windows upgrades into the future.

One important caveat, if you create new keys with builds 11440+, these keys will work into the future builds but unfortunately can NOT work with builds before 11440. Hopefully those of you keying with 11440 or higher will not need to go backwards, and everyone currently with previous keys will be fine using any builds.
