Problems with midiin and environment light

Hello,

I’m having some troubles with using midi in and environment light nodes. I’m wondering if anyone knows how to fix these?

First, for the midi in. I’m connecting my 88-key digital piano to TD using my Akai midi controller’s cable. I have already installed the piano drivers correctly. Yet, for some reasons, the ‘sense’ in my midi in node keeps jittering on and off indefinitely and hence making the ‘adsr’ in event node connected to it not working properly. I’m wondering is it because of the incompatible cable or something else?

Second, I have never been able to use environment light as all the hdri pictures (downloaded from hdrihaven) I imported to TD got darken and sometimes shows no effect at all. Maybe it has something to do with the color space like sRGB or linear, I don’t know…

Thank you in advance.

what format are the HDR’s you import? they should be 32 bit, and an easy way to tell if they are is if they end in .HDR for example. There can be other formats too, but that’s the most common.

If you see an HDRI preview on a website that looks like a “normal” photograph like this:

It means that it’s been converted from linear to sRGB for viewing purposes on the webpage. When you import it into TouchDesigner it should look darker, and more constrasty than it does here, and if so that is correct. Plug it into the env light, and at the end of your render pipeline (after the render TOP somewhere) convert your top from linear to sRGB.
