Projection mapping: to keystone or not to keystone?

hi all,

i’m wondering … in our projects with projection mapping (not using Kantan but modeling the geometry and using a virtual camera that replicates the projector lens) we are still confused wether to use the projectors keystone features (simple trapezoid correction on cheap projectors) or not … initially we thought that all the distortion would be taken care of by the viewpoint of the virtual camera but it turns out that with the keystone feature this works better

any thoughts ?
