PS3 Eye Camera Support

This cam still seems to be the best option for a fast, replaceable, well-tested and cheap IR tracking camera with drivers available.

AFAIK the touch support was left here:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1621&p=21268&hilit=PS3#p21268

But considering the blob top it really would be a fantastic cam to get working once and for all. You can get the cam/accessories for tracking easily here:

peauproductions.com/store/index. … &cPath=136

There is established drivers here:

codelaboratories.com/products/eye/driver/

Multicam API:

codelaboratories.com/research/vi … camera-api

Failing that I’d really appreciate tried and natively supported Ir camera options (with stage-size range) for touch.

Thanks

+1 I just got a PS3 eye cam built into a custom housing with interchangeable lenses, native support would be great.

Haven’t been able to get the PS3 Eye camera to work inside touch. :frowning:

It is weird since the camera works in windows under direct show video capture but not inside touch designer.

any updated on this?

what are the best cameras to get for touch? I need something for hd capture for a permanent installation

+1 from me too, this would be super helpful

Installed the 32 bit version earlier to use a .dll and turns out the ps3 eye works fine, just doesn’t show up in the 64 bit version. (using CL-eye drivers 5.3.0.0341 and TD build 13370)

elburz - have you got a link for who is doing that? id love to see the specs - like does it use C/CS mount lenses, micro, etc…I suspect the housing has a 1/4"-20 for a tripod?

Great price and good build.

I can vouch for peau, great service and support.

Likewise, been using a modded camera with Peau Productions’ filter & zoom lens for 2 and a half years with no problems whatsoever.

There looks to be a bit of interest here, it would be good to get an indication from derivative if they are considering it for a future build.

Last time we checked the Code Laboratories drivers do not work TouchDesigner even though they claim DirectShow support (which is what the Video In TOP uses). We don’t have any plans to roll our own native support for this camera right now. Does anyone know of any other 3rd party drivers that support this camera that might get an image stream into the Video In TOP?

Code Laboratories drivers works only with TouchDesigner 32 bit.
