Hello, I appreciate of someone from derivative can answer this.
I have on mind create some kind of free stream tool for multicam switch and video process on TouchDesigner software, is a very simple tool or series of tools I want share for free.
Of course if somebody want use in some seirious way, should buy as minimum a license not limit the resolution.
So here my questions:
1- Can I apply educational license, building that free project, sharing all files needed and also teaching how build all and how use etc?
Hoppe yes otherwise the price of license is really prohibitive.
2- Can any user pickup this free project I plan create, and order a educative license?
Again hope yes, otherwise for a content generator as youtuber, again this will be prohibitive.
3- If point 1 and point 2 is possible, then a new question appear.
If content generator is a youtuber, or a twitch user, maybe he profit his videos.
Then in that case he cant pickup TouchDesigner and use with the free tool i create on TouchDesigner?
If yes, then game over…and TD license can be used only for pro very good pay works, what is ok but a little sad, I see a lot of potencial of use TouchDesigner on environments like Youtube, Twitch etc.
Of course will be a relative reduce niche. (at leats at the begining)
I think TD license and other software like Notch should have a schema or model of licenses where offer a starter license like your educative but based on revenue. If you not revenue over x amount then as example you can use the 300U$ starter license.
Epic games have something very similar with Unreal Engine or we can se something similar in Unity.
Again…exist lot of little users can take benefit of this tools and pay over 300 for license will be prohibitive.
For sure…ready to pickup a 300U$ license, but all depend of the answer
