Hey I’m trying to create a lyric video using TDAbleton. This was easy enough using the Text TOP, but with the GeoText I can’t figure out how to :
get TD to pick one word at a time from the Table DAT - by default it outputs everything unde the ”text” column, so I can’t make it pick out individual words - I guess I could somehow work around by sending MIDI triggers to the ”fontalpha” parameter to specific words somehow, but I was thinking there might be easier ways to do it.
for some reason using the ”font” parameter to specify which font to use with specific text doesn’t seem to work. could you guys tell me if/what I am doing wrong ?
The Geo Text COMP only supports one font at a time right now, so the ‘font’ column is not expected to do anything. If you need multiple fonts you will need to use multiple geo texts.
By default, the Geo Text will draw every line of text in the DAT, but you can also a column named ‘render’ and it will only draw the lines that have a non-zero value in that column.
Thanks a lot for the reply. I m actually having a moderately easy time with using the Text SOP (which I’ve actually found about after the Geo Text COMP haha i suck). The Geo Text COMP really felt exciting tho, because of it s music-tracker-but-for-lyric-videos type layout. Sad to hear the font doesn’t currently work, but hyped to use it in the future.
@robmc are there any plans to add multi-font support to Geo Text COMP? This would be incredibly helpful for my use case (many designs we receive from clients require the use of multiple fonts/weights, often in the same line or multi-line paragraph [bold/italic callouts, etc.])
Multi-font has been on our todo list for awhile for both the text and geo text comps, but unfortunately it hasn’t been scheduled for development yet. When implemented, this should allow for mid-sentence font changes using the formatting codes.
If you’re needing it for a project soon, we could prioritize it with pro hours if you’re interested.
