I have a pointcloud that is instanced (with BOX SOP) via a GEOMETERY COMP.

it looks cool but its far too uniform, I want to have the boxes to have a random scale and rotation applied is there a way to reference a noise TOP/CHOP to the scale & rotation to the geometry (or box sop)

Then pattern chop is your friend. Use an info chop and find the amount of points from the SOP, create a pattern chop with the length as the points (may need to -1)and use random (or random non repeating int), then math, then instance that as rotation or scale. Make 3 pattern chops for XYZ and stick them into a merge. You can do the same with a noise chop as well!

Thanks for this!

someone has mentioned to reference a noise TOP in the box rot, but I could fine a way to make this work ( and then felt very dumb)

Unfortunately I feel dumb still… First question is how do you use an info chop to find the point count from the SOP? and which SOP? the box SOP or the Geometry after it?

Thanks for your noob patience

I might have misread.

Whatever the point cloud is, make sure the pattern has the same length. So 10000 point in the cloud would mean 10000 length of the pattern.

Thanks. turns out using a Noise TOP reference in the Geo scale OP worked wonders!
