Really simple! (help needed)

New to the program (absolutely love it!)

I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and I have really enjoyed using it. The wealth of infomation on this forum and the wiki is really great!

Although… I have never used an environment like this before. My skills ended (before using it) at using ableton and photoshop.

So!..

I have a really basic question.

How would I animate say a rectangle for instance so that just one face extended… In other words how would I extend it in one direction but keep the other end fixed in place… giving the effect of a bar going up and down.

I can already set up audio chops to filter the parts I want and animate a rectangle so that the Y scale is effected using a transform SOP

This is not what a want though as by effecting the Y scale it extends the shape in two directions. I just want it to extend in one direction (just upwards with the bottom face not moving at all)

Am I going at this the wrong way?

would it be far easier to send my pass filter to a Top and make it that way round?

Let me know if my wording is completely off and I will describe this in a different way (lack of sleep… deadlines due… rughgh)

Thanks for your time!

I think you can move the pivot point to the bottom edge to get what you want

Thanks! I’ll try this out.

I’ve cracked it!

for anyone thats intrested if you want to scale one edge of a rectangle use the following values.

Pivot 1/-0.5/0
Scale 1/a value above 1/1

This will scale the rectangles top edge in effect stretching it out but keeping the bottom points in place.

I hope i’ve worded this in a way people can understand.

Might aswell continue this rather than making more threads with a similar purpose.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to do this.

I want to transform that circle so that it moves diagonally to the left and grows as it does so (I can do this bit).

The bit I cant figure out is trying to make a trail behind the circle so that there is no negative space between its original point and its end point.

I then intend to loop the sequence but making it grow slightly larger + move a bit further (im sure I can do this in the animation editor)

can anyone explain how I would go about making that trail?

I apologise in advance if there is part of the wiki which explains this but I can’t find it.

Thanks for your time.
