Reduce clicking in CHOP audio output

HI all,

I’m playing with making sound from the contents of images at the moment and I’m having trouble with lots of clicking in the sound.

(the Vimeo’s audio is even worse of course)

There’s a lot of DC offset that might contribute to this. Can anyone suggest ways to tidy this up?

Is anyone else getting clicks when they run the .toe file? I’m assuming it’s not my hardware so far…

I get clicks, but I didnt have your media so I tried it with Noise TOPs. didnt do a lot of experimenting, but maybe there’s some clues in my reply.

I was thinking maybe its my crappy built-in drivers and card (what are you using ?).
I was also thinking maybe it’s a ‘seam’ at the end of the TOPto CHOP row that ‘jumps’ ?

Then I was thinking maybe it was the LFO’s ramp setting having a ‘seam’ ?

then I thought I would try blurring the image to see if it sounded less ‘peaky’

then I thought I’d try and remove abrupt transitions by using LAG CHOP and limiting acceleration or something.

All in all ,the pops come and go, especially if I really work the noise TOP parameters…
not sure if I came to any conclusions to the source

nice idea… I hope something in here is helpful.

actually, now that I think of it it seems like I get clicks in time with the LFOs… so it seems to be a question of having a more complex limiter network more than anything, right ?

oops forgot to lock the MovieIn TOPs again (–) original file with the knitting patterns included.

The clicks are generally caused by discontinuities in the waveform. So yes you need to smooth those out somehow to avoid the clicks.
