Is there some UI gadgetry that I’m missing, I have a few container COMPs that are parented to another container COMP and I want to adjust the parenting order as the children as laid out as left-to-right. I can’t seem to find the usual outputs lister to reorder the outputs/children. I’m on OS X 10.14.6 on Macbook Pro. Thanks.
In Panels you want to use the Children’s Align Order parameters to set ordering, otherwise it uses alphanumeric ordering by default.
Sorry if I wasn’t clear: these are parented with wires, not by virtue of being inside another container COMP. My issue is I /am/ using the left-to-right children’s align order, which seems to use the order in which they were wired to their parent. How do I rearrange that order without just undoing it all and rewiring in the order I want?
Ahh, just realized that it seems that even with wiring a container COMP to a bunch of children COMPs, the display order is still the alphanumeric order of the node names. I was hoping to be able to use the wiring order to control the layout order so that I didn’t have to rename the nodes every time I wanted to try a different arrangement. Or did I miss something?
Yeah, panel layout ordering is accomplished using the Align Order parameter set on the children, not wiring order. And if the number is the same, then it uses alphanumeric sorting.
You can read about this parameter in help docs for any Panel COMP, it is on the Layout page.
Cool, hadn’t found this Align Order parm – been so focused on the ‘Children’ page that I missed it at the bottom of the ‘Layout’ page. Thanks!
