Currently, data links are only shown between hierarchically equal OPs and hierarchically equal COMPs that contain data-linked child OPs. The fact that one sees many of the data links visually in the network makes one think that they’re seeing all of the data links that are affecting the OPs in view, but that’s not true because they’re not seeing ones that connect to OPs above in hierarchy.
If would be useful if there was also a visual indicator to indicate when either:
- A visible OP’s Parameters have a data link to above hierarchy
- A visible OP’s Parameters have a data link or one of its children has a data link to above hierarchy
Like the existing data links, this one would ideally display the linked par on hover.
The logic of my request follows what I see with an In OP which displays a short dotted line segment to its left when an input is connected. Here’s how it might look like for data links; off-center to the right, pointing up, short line segment:
