Not getting a kinect depth feed … at all in this build, with recent kinect drivers that work fine in 077
Also just downloaded and updated to Kinect SDK 1.8 from microsoft and I’m not getting anything from Kinect in Touchdesigner at all… it’s got worse haha
OK gone back to SDK1.7 but still no joy from depth camera in 10780 32 or 64bit
We are trying to reproduce this, no luck so far sadly.
I’ve gone back to 8460 to get around this problem for now. All later releases show no depth signal for me.
Hi i’ve kinect for xbox and all the things works on 077, now i’ve installed it on my new laptop… in the first step i’ve installed 1.8 sdk openni and nite2 kinect and the sensor work with the test of nite, but nothing happened in TD (there’s no device) so i’ve installed 1.7 and finally 1.5 runtime but nothing… the device not appear in my window.
(i’ve done a restore in windows 7 64bit because i want delete the installation and now with 1.7 is the same… nothing appear)
there’s some hope!?
OK … i don’t know what’s the problem, but now i’ve reinstalled 1.7 sdk and all the stuffs works.
Hi,
Just got a kinect for windows, same here, no depth in 10780 x64, works with 8460 x86, looks like it’s not worth trying other versions!

Vincent, did you try reinstalling the kinect SDK?
Hi Elburz, I haven’t installed the sdk so far which shouldn’t be needed, only the runtime +drivers 1.7, and it works in older version of Touch, just not 10780.

Sorry, I meant the runtime. It was working fine for me in 10780. What kind of error do you get? The “Connecting to device…” warning? Have you tried different USB ports?
No dice from uninstalling and reinstalling runtime 1.7 here. Depth signal is still black
I just confirmed the Kinect Depth image is working in 11360 with the Kinect 1.8 driver on Win7 64.
I just got depth working again on 10780. As far as I can tell what fixed it was updating the graphics driver through device manager, even though I thought I had the latest update installed already.
Graphics Card - GTX 660
System - Windows 8.0
Strange that it was still working in previous TD versions but hey I’m happy it works now.
Hi,
Same here, after installing latest build and kinect runtime (1.8) still no depth, but it was fixed when I upgraded the nvidia drivers.
That’s good, wondering as well why it was working with older drivers in older versions of touch.
Vincent
Yes, that is very strange to me also. Maybe the Kinect runtime/SDK had a issue with that particular driver version somehow? I’m not sure what level of GPU acceleration their codes uses under the hood.
I’d just like to add that I get sporadic behavior with Kinect connecting to touch also…
For what’s it’s worth I’ve found that some USB ports on my computer seem to work more reliably than others - notably, the ones on the front vs. the back.
I’ve seen this weirdness on a couple different computers and can’t help but wonder if it’s a usb problem in general - different buses or sharing devices or something?
I’ve found that too, but I’ve found the Kinect sample apps also have a similar problem at the same time. Not ruling out it as a TD problem but overall the Runtime doesn’t seem particularly stable.
Confirming have running xbox kinect with SDK 1.8 windows 8 64 bit, touch build 11960 64 bit.
Was originally have all the mentioned issues - resolved by installing additional nvidia update 331.65 (the ‘gamer ready’ driver) on a new geforece gtx 770m Asus G750J
