RESOLVED: [2022.28040] Touch Designer locked at splash screen at initial launch

2022.28040 Win 11

Had been working with this version with no issue until now. Not sure what changed. I can only assume there was a automatic windows or driver update or something.

Now on launching Touch Designer to an empty project it clears a desktop spot for the splash screen but never draws it. Touch appears to be filling up available memory.

Periodically it lets go of a chunk of memory and slowly takes it back

I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing references in the registry and reinstalling, updating graphics drivers.

I rolled Touch back to 2022.26590 same issue.

Ah, the video driver released today, perhaps it had updated

I rolled the graphics driver back to 527.40, same issue.

That was just 7 days ago. I’ll try one further back…

Nope, same issue.
I haven’t found any other applications having issues yet.

Any thoughts on how I might proceed to troubleshoot this further?
Thanks

In the ‘Details’ panel can you confirm that TD is the one eating up all the memory? Once it’s eaten a bunch, can you right click on the TouchDesigner.exe process and select ‘Create Dump File’. Zip this file (it’ll zip nicely from it’s huge size), and send us it so we can see where TD is getting stuck.
Thanks and sorry you are running into this

I got impatient last night and reinstalled Windows.
It not only fixed the problem but my project now launches much more quickly. I guess it’s the extreme version of turning it off and back on again.
Thanks for the quick response.
